- To renew your Electrical Contractors License in the state of Montana, you are required to complete 16 hours of continuing education every 2 years.
- Eight hours must cover current changes in the codebook. The remaining eight hours must be over trade related topics.
- Contractor’s licenses expire every 2 years. The Board will provide the date of expiration to each licensee.
- Course providers are required by Montana’s Electrical Board to provide them within 20 days, a list of all attendee’s whom completed the continuing education course.
NEC Review Part 1

A three-hour course covers the most common requirements of chapters 1 & 2 of the 2005 NEC and provides a more thorough understanding of the code. The topics covered in this class include the layout of the code, how to understand the code terminology, and the general code requirements contained in chapters one and two. A three-hour course covers the most common requirements of chapter 3 of the 2005 NEC and provides a more thorough understanding of the code. he topics covered in this class include basic requirements for installation of cables, outlet boxes, and raceways. During this course, the proper sizing of outlet boxes will be demonstrated, as well as the installation requirements for most of the commonly used raceways and cable types. We will also discuss the protection of conductors as related to the different environments faced. At the conclusion of this session, the user will have an option to take a seventy five question practice test, used to prove competency in these topics. The exam is very beneficial to employers.
